Aaru is the reading instrument of bimri's press. This policy describes what we collect when you use the Aaru app and website, and why.

Account

When you register, we store your email address and authentication identifiers through Firebase Authentication. You may add an optional display name and Salon privacy preferences.

Reading activity

Progress (scene position, time spent, percent) may be stored on your device and, when you are signed in, synced to Firestore so you can continue across devices. Highlights and favorites follow the same pattern.

Purchases and membership

Book ownership and Salon Circle membership are sold on the Aaru website. Payment is processed by our payment provider (currently Paystack). We store entitlement records after payment is verified server-side. We do not store full card numbers.

Salon

If you join a Salon, discussion text and optional voice notes you choose to post are stored so other members can read or hear them. Microphone access is used only when you record a voice reply.

We store your current Salon participation agreement, reports you submit, reader-block relationships, and moderation status. Reports contain the category and a bounded reference to the reported item; they are available only to trusted moderation systems and operators. We retain moderation and appeal records only as long as reasonably needed for community safety, fraud prevention, legal obligations, and dispute handling, then delete or anonymise them.

Diagnostics

Crashlytics and Performance may collect anonymous diagnostics to keep the reader stable. You can learn more in the Firebase documentation for those products.

Deletion and retained records

You can delete your account in the app or at the account deletion page on this website. Personal profile, reading, and Salon data are removed through the deletion workflow. Limited payment, fraud, security, moderation, or legal records may be retained under a pseudonymous identifier where required, and are not used to restore deleted access.
